What Is Baptiste Power Yoga?
Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga stands for leadership, community, service, possibility and transformation…on and off the mat.
In 1940, Walt Baptiste and his son Baron founded Baptiste Yoga. The asana or physical parts of the practice are inspired by the teachings of Krishnamacharya and his students Iyengar and Desikachar, whom Baron Baptiste studied with personally from a young age.
Baron took what he learned from these great eastern teachers and created a style of yoga that worked to empower, strengthen, and stretch the bodies and minds of modern westerners.
Benefits of Baptiste Yoga
Baptiste Power yoga practice will strengthen, stretch and transform your body. Through 60, 75, or 90 minute classes, students are encouraged and challenged to explore the possibilities within their physical bodies. The physical practice is accessible to people of all athletic abilities and from all walks of life.

My style of teaching Baptiste yoga
My name is Jax McCauley and I am facilitating Power Flow Yoga sessions at both the 2019 Sport and Spirit Wellness and Hockey Retreats.
I have practiced Baptiste yoga for about 8 years and taught this amazing practice for 5.
By continuing to do the work on and off the mat, I continue to become more and more of my authentic self and this is how I show up! Authentic.
I am passionate about the truth of this practice and the way in which it has supported transformation in my own life, in a way I never dreamed possible.
The practice is meant to challenge you AND it is my hope that my lighthearted spirit and uplifting, heartfelt approach will positively lead you through the physical challenge.
I truly believe this practice is for anyBODY! No matter what you believe to be holding you back in your life, physically, mentally or emotionally. All you have to do is show up as you are :)

So this is me and Jax at her yoga retreat in the spring. It was my very first full yoga weekend and I wasn't sure how my body would hold up.
I have never done that much yoga in a short time period. Well, much to my surprise, not only could my body handle it, but both my body and soul needed it.
I won't lie. The poses and pace was tough for this rookie 'yogi' but with Jax as an instructor it became rhythmic and steady.
The retreat came at the exact time that I technically couldn't afford the time away from the busyness of life/work but I made the commitment and I went. I realized that it's never a bad decision to take time for yourself because more than likely you need it!!
